Every $10 donated will neutralize one metric tonne of carbon dioxide emissions

Who are we?
Carbonfund.org Foundation is a US-based environmental non-profit that helps businesses and individuals to assess their carbon footprint, look for ways to reduce it, then offer the option to offset the negative environmental impact of those emissions by supporting third-party validated and verified voluntary carbon offset projects that reduce carbon emissions.

What do we do?
We support third-party validated and verified voluntary carbon offset projects around the world that are reducing, avoiding or sequestering carbon dioxide emissions through new energy efficiency technologies, reforestation and forest conservation projects, and renewable energy projects - wind, solar and small hydro-electric - around the world.

Our mission
Carbonfund.org is leading the fight against climate change, making it easy and affordable to reduce & offset your climate impact and hasten the transition to a clean energy future.

Carbonfund.org supports third-party validated and verified voluntary carbon offset projects around the world that are reducing, avoiding or sequestering carbon dioxide emissions through new energy efficiency technologies, reforestation and forest conservation projects, and renewable energy projects - wind, solar and small hydro-electric - around the world. Our Certified Carbonfree Products Program enables consumer product manufacturers to neutralize 100% of their products' carbon footprint.
What environmental work do we do?

Where do we carry out this work?
Globally.

Every $10 donation is used to purchase and retire one carbon credit, which reduces one metric tonne of CO2 emissions. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, this is equivalent to removing the emissions from approximately 2,500 miles driven by an average passenger vehicle or 113 gallons of gasoline consumed or about 1,100 pounds of coal burned. It’s also equivalent to about one month of an average individual’s annual carbon footprint.
How do we measure the impact of our work?

What impact have we achieved to date?
In our eighteen-year history, we've worked with over 3300 businesses and organizations, and received donations from 750,000 individuals, supported over 215 voluntary carbon offset projects across 25 countries, and neutralized 17 million metric tonnes (38 billion pounds!) of carbon dioxide emissions!
Your donation

How are donations typically distributed across our organisation?
Every $10 donation will be used to purchase and retire one carbon credit (1000 kgs of CO2 emissions). Only about 5% of the donations we receive are used to cover non-program related administrative costs. Our foundation consistently earns a 100 out of 100 from Charity Navigator and maintains the Guidestar Platinum Seal of Transparency.

What impact will your donation have?
Each $10 donation will neutralize one metric tonne (2205 pounds) of carbon dioxide emissions by supporting third-party validated and verified voluntary carbon offset projects around the world!
Sustainability

Our sustainability statement
Carbonfund.org is a 100% virtual organization, and has been for almost 11 years. We keep our business travel to a minimum - only to make required visits to the carbon offset projects we support.

What UN Sustainable Development Goals are we contributing to?
The voluntary carbon offset projects we support contribute to all of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Our Renewable Energy, Forestry and Energy Efficiency projects have numerous environmental and community benefits. Our forest conservation and reforestation projects protect habitat for threatened animal and plant species, improve water and air quality, and control erosion while mitigating greenhouse gas emissions to combat climate change. The projects include newly-built health clinics and sanitary facilities while donating healthcare and school supplies, and distributing mosquito nets to the local communities. Energy efficiency projects are based on new technologies that perform the same work using less fossil fuels. Renewable energy projects create cleaner sources of electricity. All of these projects also offer employment opportunities and establish alternative sources of income for local communities.
